Our Worship

When you walk into our Sanctuary at 11am on Sunday you will be greeted by an usher and find us ready for worship.  Most of us arrive 30 to 45 minutes to prepare for the service.  If you show up before 11am you will be greeted by an usher, hear John practicing on the organ, and see us setting up the communion table. 

Our worship includes singing, prayer, scripture reading, sermon, and communion.  We sing from the various hymns found in the Chalice Hymnal.  We sing old favorites and a few new hymns some reflect hymns from Hispanic and Asian cultures. 

As we worship, we pray for the Holy Spirit to fill us.  We share our joys and concerns with each other and spend some time in silent mediation before the Pastoral Prayer. 

Scripture from both the Old and New Testaments are read based on the liturgy for that Sunday.  Pastor Jeanne eloquently expresses God’s Good News in her sermons.  They can make you laugh, think, and question.  She likes to challenge us! 

As Disciples of Christ, we celebrate communion every Sunday.  Communion is the highlight of our worship and you are invited to join us. 

As you leave we encourage you to stay so we can introduce ourselves to you.  We pray that you will see God working through us at First Christian Church.
