Tamara's Voice During Lent and Easter several church members have told stories about their prayer lives. Prayer is an important part of this congregation's spiritual life. One of the most amazing stories was told on Easter by one of our children. With support from her big sister and mom, she told us the following story. I want to participate more so I’m sharing my prayer experience. Pastor Jeanne showed us the bead thing. When I touch the bead, I feel God touching me. My Sunday School Teacher, Debbie, has been teaching me the Lord’s Prayer and how to talk to God. I have my own breath prayer. When I say it, I feel in my heart that God is with me. My mom says to me “You can do it” and it motivates me. I know that if my mind says I can do something but my heart says I can’t, then I remember that God is with me and I don’t have to be afraid. I have all these things I want to say about prayer and my big sister helped me understand details of what I want to say for my prayer experience. I’ve been learning that family and friends are always there for me. And so is God. God helps me understand that if I want to be the Queen in the play that it’s okay because I’ll get a turn to be the Queen and God helps me be patient. I feel God tell me I don’t have to be afraid. I don’t have to be afraid of big dogs and friends that do mean things. Prayer brings God to me and I know God is with me even when scary or bad things happen. I love prayer because it feels like God is touching me. He’s in my heart and sometimes I feel him like a big hug. Sometimes God feels like being cold and God gives you a cup of hot chocolate. He’s with me, he’s with me, he’s with me. |
