The Gift of Hospitality

As God’s children we believe we should use our gifts as service to the Gift-Giver and those around us. The Apostle Paul writes, “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” (Romans 12:11-13, NIV)

At First Christian Church, we have been blessed for a long time with our Hospitality Ministry. This ministry is part of our Ministry Council and has input into the way we worship. This faithful group can be counted on to provide hospitality at church events or with those in need. You will see this group cooking and feeding at a homeless shelter or working at food pantry. The demonstrate God's love with style!

They never question “why?” They just ask “when?” Usually this ministry is overlooked in many churches, but we are very proud of this group and their hard work.

Wednesday Bible Study

On Wednesday at 10 am we have a Bible Study in the Pastor’s Study. Pastor Jeanne leads this spiritually. uplifting time. We come together as different spirits who make up the body of Jesus Christ. As Disciples we are open as everyone’s scriptural interpretation. You will find we have many views of what the scripture says to us, and understand that we may not always agree. Still, we are one in the spirit.

We read and discuss scripture, usually the scripture for next Sunday’s lectionary. Sometimes through Lectio Divina style… sometimes we meditate… sometimes we laugh… sometimes we cry… but we always love…
